Coverage

General collection, but strong in Scottish Protestant theology, Church history C17-19. A

cross-section of material on Scottish church history has been used to form an open access

Special Collections

Quaker Collection: 376 titles comprising letters, diaries, journals and devotional items of

Quakers of English and American origin. Pre-1900 material permanent loan to Mitchell.

Swedenborg Collection: 2,000 vols., kept separately. Morrison Collection: 7,000 vols. On

theology, mostly kept separately, although some have been relocated to the Rare Books

Collection of the Mitchell. The following collections have been merged in the general Dewey

sequence:The Slains Castle Collection: 3,100 vols. (some theology). Cummings Pamphlets:

185, many on Scottish C19 religious topics. J. H. Thomson Donation: 1,230 vols. on

Covenanting history.

Manuscript

All manuscript material now the responsibility of the Rare Books Collection. Mainly sermons,

but 8 medieval items.

Scottish church history and theology C17-19; much useful pamphlet material.
